#OneWordReview#Sadak2: UNBEARABLE. Rating:

Just cannot be compared to its first part… Lacklustre plot… Lethargic and lifeless screenwriting… Music doesn’t work either… Terrible waste of the brand [#Sadak] and talent associated with this film. #Sadak2Review

Sadak 2 doesn’t just mirror the original in terms of narrative beats. The storytelling, performances dialogue, cinematography, songs, background music – all seem to belong to the 90s, which was the last time Mahesh Bhatt directed a film before this. Bhatt, who has co-written the story with Suhrita Sengupta, is still resolutely stuck in thirty years ago. Gulshan Grover, who did multiple films with him then, reappears here as a one-handed baddie named Hathkatta – it’s like time has stopped.

Her entire family – comprising the maasi-turned-step-mother Nandini Maa (Priyanka Bose) and father Yogesh (Jisshu Sengupta) – is under the spell of ‘dhongi sadhu’ Gyaan Prakash (Makarand Deshpande) but Aarya, all of 20, knows better. Utterly convinced that her beloved mother died owing to an elaborate plan hatched by Gyaan Prakash and that ‘disease’ Nandini, Aarya launches an online campaign called ‘India Fights Fake Gurus’. Her motivation is to reveal the truth behind these supposed messengers of God and debunk the myth and mystery surrounding them. While treading along this mission, Aarya falls in love with a former troll – a very good-looking musician with issues of his own, Vishal (Aditya Roy Kapur). Together, they embark on a pilgrimage to fulfil Aarya’s maa-ka-aakhri-sapna of visiting Kailash on her 21st birthday.
